Los Angeles AngelsvsHouston Astros
LAA 18/HOU 3
Things to say
The Angels hammered the Astros 18-3 in Houston.
01
opener
Angels just put up eighteen in Houston, man. It was over by the fifth. Astros never had it.
02
key player
Top of that Angels order was a wrecking crew — the heart of the lineup left the yard and the leadoff guy was on base all night.
03
hot take
Astros manager went to the pen way too early and it turned into batting practice.
04
deep cut
Wild part is Houston's at .500 and just got run like a Triple-A club on a getaway day.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if the Astros bounce back tomorrow — hard to look worse than that.
The recap
This wasn't a ballgame, it was a mugging — the Angels hung 18 on Houston and never looked back on a getaway day at Daikin Park. The heart of the LAA order clearly got into everybody's stuff, teeing off early and often while the Astros bullpen kept pouring gas on the fire.
Houston's three runs were a footnote; once this thing snowballed, the manager was just trying to save arms for tomorrow. A last-place team walking into Houston and dropping a 15-run beatdown — that's the kind of laugher the Astros will want to forget fast.
