Los Angeles AngelsvsMiami Marlins
LAA 0/MIA 7
Things to say
The Miami Marlins shut out the Los Angeles Angels 7-0 at loanDepot park.
01
opener
Marlins took it 7-0, wasn't even close. Miami jumped on 'em early and never let up. Angels bats just never showed up.
02
key player
Miami's starter was filthy, got into his stuff and cruised deep into the game. That kind of outing saves a bullpen for a week.
03
hot take
Getting shut out on a getaway day tells you the Angels have already checked out. That's a .380-ish team OBP kind of quiet.
04
deep cut
Miami's sitting at 59-59 and playing spoiler now. Nobody circles the Marlins on the calendar, and that's exactly when they bite you.
05
exit
Anyway, Angels need to figure out the heart of their order before the next one. We'll see if they bounce back.
The recap
Marlins flexed at home and hung a touchdown on the Angels, cruising to a 7-0 shutout on a getaway day in Miami. Whoever toed the rubber for Miami got into his stuff early and never let the Angels sniff the heart of the order, cranking out zeros inning after inning.
Los Angeles couldn't buy a baserunner, and once the offense pushed a few across, this one was academic. Clean, quiet, and over early — the kind of laugher that evens Miami up at .500.
