Los Angeles AngelsvsTexas Rangers
LAA 3/TEX 0
Things to say
The Angels blanked the Rangers 3-0 on the road at Globe Life Field.
01
opener
Angels took it 3-0 in Texas. Classic getaway-day game, low scoring, over quick. LA pitching just never let the Rangers breathe.
02
key player
The Angels' arms were the whole story. Threw up a zero, kept the WHIP tiny, never gave the heart of the order anything to hit.
03
hot take
Getting shut out at home in a playoff push? That's on the Rangers' bats, not the pitching. Sixty-six losses and it shows.
04
deep cut
Angels are 52-78 and still went into Globe Life and hung a shutout. Spoiler mode is real this time of year.
05
exit
Anyway, Rangers gotta bounce back tomorrow or this series slips away. We'll see if the bats wake up.
The recap
Angels grabbed a tidy 3-0 shutout on the road, and when you hang a zero on the other guys, the pitching did the heavy lifting. Texas never got anything going against the heart of that Angels staff, stranding whatever few baserunners they scratched out and never really threatening.
Three runs was plenty of cushion, and the bullpen slammed the door to preserve the blank on the scoreboard. On a getaway day at Globe Life, the Rangers' bats went quiet at the worst time and dropped this one clean.
