Houston AstrosvsToronto Blue Jays
HOU 2/TOR 4
Things to say
The Blue Jays beat the Astros 4-2 at Rogers Centre to climb back to .500.
01
opener
Jays took it 4-2 at home. Nothing flashy, they just chipped away and the bullpen slammed the door. Astros never really got the heart of the order going.
02
key player
Toronto's starter was the story for me. Got into his stuff early, went deep into the game, and kept Houston off balance all night. Low WHIP kind of outing.
03
hot take
Honestly the Astros look flat. A 37-43 team shouldn't be getting quieted like that. Their lineup's coasting on the name and not the OBP.
04
deep cut
Both clubs are basically a coin flip right now, 39-39 and 37-43. That's not a powerhouse series, that's two teams trying to find themselves in June.
05
exit
Getaway day next, so we'll see if Houston bounces back or if Toronto runs the table. Either way I'm watching.
The recap
Toronto took care of business at home, knocking off Houston 4-2 to climb back to .500 on the nose. It was a tight one all night, the kind of game that hinges on a couple of clutch swings, and the Jays found enough offense to nudge ahead and never look back.
The bullpen slammed the door late to protect the two-run cushion. Houston's been scuffling lately, and dropping this one drags them another game under as the road trip rolls on.
