AthleticsvsHouston Astros
ATH 0/HOU 4
Things to say
The Houston Astros shut out the Athletics 4-0 at Daikin Park.
01
opener
Astros took care of business, 4-0. Athletics never got anything going. Pretty tidy night in Houston.
02
key player
Whoever Houston ran out there had his stuff working — a four-hit shutout doesn't happen by accident. The bullpen barely had to break a sweat.
03
hot take
Four runs shouldn't be enough to feel comfortable, but against an offense sitting on 49 wins, it might as well have been ten.
04
deep cut
Athletics are 49-80 now and it shows — they went quiet through the heart of the order all night. That's the real story, not the four runs.
05
exit
Astros are scratching back toward .500 at 65-64. We'll see if they can keep it rolling next one.
The recap
Houston took care of business at home, blanking the A's 4-0 in a clean, tidy shutout at Daikin Park. The Astros' arms were the whole story here, keeping Oakland off the board all night and never letting the heart of the order get comfortable.
Four runs was plenty of cushion against a scuffling A's club that's now buried at 49-80. Nothing flashy, just a workmanlike win that nudges Houston back above .500.
