AthleticsvsSeattle Mariners
ATH 7/SEA 4
Things to say
The Athletics beat the Mariners 7-4 at T-Mobile Park.
01
opener
A's took it 7-4 up in Seattle. They jumped on the Mariners early and never really gave it back. Kind of a getaway-day letdown for the M's.
02
key player
The top of the A's order was locked in all night. They kept turning the lineup over and Seattle's pitching just couldn't put them away.
03
hot take
Seattle's playoff push is basically cooked. You can't drop games like this to a last-place club and expect to sniff October.
04
deep cut
Four runs at home should be enough most nights, but the M's went quiet with runners on. Left too many guys stranded in the heart of the order.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if Seattle can bounce back tomorrow before this series slips away.
The recap
The Athletics went into T-Mobile Park and stole one, punching out a 7-4 win over a Mariners club that just can't find traction down the stretch. Oakland's bats did the damage early and never gave Seattle a clean look at a comeback, keeping the heart of the order quiet when it mattered.
The Mariners scratched together four but left too many ducks on the pond, and the bullpen couldn't slam the door once the game tilted. Getaway-day baseball at its messiest, and the last-place A's walk out with the series feeling a whole lot better about themselves.
