AthleticsvsSeattle Mariners
ATH 6/SEA 2
Things to say
The Athletics beat the Mariners 6-2 at T-Mobile Park.
01
opener
A's went into Seattle and took it, 6-2. Mariners bats just never showed up. Two runs at home, that's a quiet night.
02
key player
The A's starter got into his stuff early and gave them length. Kept the heart of the order off balance all night.
03
hot take
Seattle's still hovering under .500 for a reason. This is the kind of getaway-day loss that tells you where a season's headed.
04
deep cut
A's are 57-86 and they still walked into a playoff-hopeful's park and hung six. Nobody's circling that game, but they earned it.
05
exit
Anyway, Mariners need to fix that lineup fast — long road left. We'll see if they bounce back next one.
The recap
The Athletics rolled into T-Mobile Park and left with a 6-2 win, quieting a Seattle lineup that never got its bats going. Six runs was plenty of cushion, and the pitching kept the Mariners' heart of the order from ever making it a game.
Seattle managed just two runs and couldn't string enough together to threaten. A quiet night at the yard for the M's, and Oakland takes it going away.
