AthleticsvsTexas Rangers
ATH 5/TEX 8
Things to say
The Rangers beat the Athletics 8-5 at Globe Life Field.
01
opener
Rangers took it 8-5 over the A's. Texas bats woke up early and never really gave it back. Kind of a get-right game at home.
02
key player
The heart of that Texas order did the damage — a couple runs knocked in and one left the yard. That's the guy you build the lineup around.
03
hot take
Honestly 8-5 flatters the A's. Texas was in control by the middle innings and coasted.
04
deep cut
Watch the bullpen usage — Texas leaned on the pen late and it held. That's been the shaky spot all year, so that's the real win.
05
exit
A 69-70 club still scrapping. We'll see if they can keep it rolling in the next one.
The recap
Texas took care of business at home, riding an eight-run night to put away the Athletics 8-5. The bats did the heavy lifting all evening, and even when Oakland's bunch scratched across five to make it interesting, the Rangers had built enough of a cushion to hold the line.
This one padded the home ledger against a club that's been buried in the standings all year. Nothing fancy — just Texas outslugging a team it was supposed to beat and banking the win.
