AthleticsvsTexas Rangers
ATH 9/TEX 2
Things to say
The Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 9-2 at Globe Life Field.
01
opener
A's went into Texas and just piled on, 9-2. Rangers never really had it. Kind of a getaway-day dud for the home side.
02
key player
The heart of the A's order did the damage, put up a crooked number early and left the yard once. That was the whole ballgame right there.
03
hot take
Fifty-four and eighty-six A's hanging nine on you at home? Texas can talk playoffs all they want, but a night like that says otherwise.
04
deep cut
Rangers starter got squeezed early and the manager went to the pen too soon. Once the bullpen's throwing that many innings, it's a long night.
05
exit
Anyway, they run it back tomorrow. We'll see if Texas actually shows up or mails in the series.
The recap
The last-place Athletics went into Globe Life Field and hung a nine-spot on the Rangers, cruising to a 9-2 laugher on getaway day. Texas never got into it — a couple runs was all they could scratch across while the A's bats kept the line moving all afternoon.
Whatever the Rangers had on the mound got left in the yard early, and the bullpen couldn't stop the bleeding. For a 54-86 club, that's about as good as a road trip gets.
