opener
Austin went into Providence Park and stole one, 2-1. Portland pushed late but couldn't find the equalizer. Road win like that is big for them.
02
key player
Brad Stuver was the difference in goal for Austin. Four saves, kept the lead standing when Portland threw everything at him down the stretch.
03
hot take
Portland had the better of it and still lost. When you can't finish at home, the record's gonna look like that.
04
deep cut
Kamal Miller had twelve defensive interventions for Portland. Guy was everywhere at the back and it still wasn't enough.
05
exit
Both of these teams are hovering around .500, so every week matters now. Curious to see who they draw next.
The recap
Austin FC went into Providence Park and walked out with a 2-1 win, which is the kind of road result that keeps a season breathing. Portland pushed the play and got the shots up, but Austin keeper Brad Stuver was the difference, turning away four to protect the lead.
The Timbers found the net once but couldn't crack it a second time when they needed to. Solid smash-and-grab from Austin.
