Toronto Blue JaysvsTampa Bay Rays
TOR 10/TB 5
Things to say
Toronto beat Tampa Bay 10-5 at Tropicana Field.
01
opener
Blue Jays put a ten-spot on the Rays down in the Trop. Toronto's bats were locked in all night. Ten to five, never really close after the middle innings.
02
key player
The heart of Toronto's order did the damage — you don't hang ten runs without the middle of the lineup leaving the yard a couple times.
03
hot take
Rays are 75-50 and still got run out of their own building. That pitching staff is running on fumes heading into the stretch.
04
deep cut
Toronto's a sub-.500 club at 62-65 and just dropped double digits on a first-place team on a getaway day. That's the kind of loss that lingers.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if the Rays bounce back next series — hard to trust that bullpen right now.
The recap
Toronto walked into the Trop and put up a ten-spot, running the Rays out of the building 10-5 on a getaway day. This one turned into a laugher — the Jays got to the Tampa bullpen early and never let off the gas, stacking runs while the heart of the order did the damage.
Tampa's got the far better record at 75-50, but none of that mattered once the Blue Jays' bats woke up. Ten runs on the road is a statement, and Toronto grabbed it.
