Toronto Blue JaysvsKansas City Royals
TOR 9/KC 2
Things to say
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Kansas City Royals 9-2 at Kauffman Stadium.
01
opener
Blue Jays took it 9-2 in KC. Wasn't close after the middle innings. Toronto's bats just kept the line moving.
02
key player
Toronto's lineup did the damage top to bottom, nine runs on the road. The heart of the order left the yard and never let up.
03
hot take
Royals are cooked at 63-79. That's not a bad-day loss, that's a bad-team loss.
04
deep cut
KC's manager went to the pen too early and it snowballed. Once the middle relief came in, the game was over.
05
exit
Anyway, Toronto's back at .500 and playing loose. Curious if they carry it into the next series.
The recap
Toronto went into Kauffman and put up a crooked number, rolling the Royals 9-2 to climb back to .500. This one was never really close — the Jays got to Kansas City early and the bats never let up, stacking runs while their starter kept the Royals stuck on two.
KC just couldn't answer, and a 63-79 club has no margin for a night where the pitching gets tagged like that. Getaway-day beatdown, and Toronto flies out feeling good about themselves.
