AFC BournemouthvsManchester City
BOU 1/MNC 2
Things to say
Manchester City beat Bournemouth 2-1 at the Etihad in the Premier League opener.
01
opener
City got it done at home but it wasn't a paddling by any means. Bournemouth actually made them sweat and nicked one back. Two-one, deserved but closer than the table will remember.
02
key player
Haaland led the line with five shots, and honestly you always feel he's about to find the net. Bournemouth had no answer for him.
03
hot take
Rúben Dias put up 109 accurate passes from the back. That's not a defender, that's a metronome. City run everything through him.
04
deep cut
Petrovic made four saves in the Bournemouth goal or that's three or four. The scoreline flatters City a bit with how busy he was.
05
exit
Long season though, opening day tells you nothing. Let's see them do it away from the Etihad.
The recap
City opened their campaign at the Etihad with a hard-earned 2-1 win over Bournemouth, edging it despite the visitors refusing to roll over. Erling Haaland led the line with five shots and looked the constant threat, while Rúben Dias bossed things at the back with a ridiculous 109 accurate passes.
Bournemouth pushed and had Petrovic making four saves to keep them in it, but they couldn't quite nick a leveller. Solid opening three points for City, though they'll know they were made to graft for it.
