Atlanta BravesvsPhiladelphia Phillies
ATL 5/PHI 2
Things to say
The Braves beat the Phillies 5-2 at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday.
01
opener
Braves took it 5-2 over in Philly. Atlanta's just rolling right now, they're the better team and it showed. Phillies bats went quiet when it mattered.
02
key player
Atlanta's arm got into his stuff early and the heart of Philly's order never touched him. That's the whole game right there.
03
hot take
Honestly Philly's offense is a mirage. Two runs at home in a game you have to win? That lineup is way overrated.
04
deep cut
Phillies skipper went to the pen too early again. You've got a starter cruising and you yank him, then the bullpen coughs it up. Same story all year.
05
exit
Anyway, Braves look like a real problem come October. Curious what these two do next time they line up.
The recap
Atlanta walked into Citizens Bank Park and quietly stole one, 5-2, tacking a couple of runs onto a Phillies club that just couldn't get the heart of the order going. The Braves' arms did the heavy lifting, keeping Philly to two runs and never letting the home crowd get loud.
Two runs isn't going to win you many ballgames, and the bats stayed cold when it mattered. Atlanta pulls further ahead in the division while the Phillies head home wondering where the offense went.
