Atlanta BravesvsBoston Red Sox
ATL 7/BOS 6
Things to say
Braves edged the Red Sox 7-6 at Fenway on Tuesday night.
01
opener
Braves snuck out of Fenway with a 7-6 win. Tight one all the way, came down to the late innings. Atlanta just keeps rolling — they're 37-18 now.
02
key player
Heart of the Atlanta order did the damage again. When that lineup gets into his stuff, no bullpen in baseball is safe.
03
hot take
Cora went to the pen too early. You've got a one-run game at Fenway, let your starter face the order a third time.
04
deep cut
Boston's now 22-31 and they've been losing the close ones all month. Their bullpen WHIP is brutal in the seventh and eighth.
05
exit
Anyway — Braves are the team to beat in the NL right now. Curious what they look like once they get back home.
The recap
Braves edged the Sox 7-6 at Fenway on a getaway day that had Boston's bullpen sweating from the jump. Atlanta's bats kept chipping, and the heart of the order finally got into a hanger late to flip the lead — once they left the yard, the Sox never quite caught up.
Boston's manager went to the pen a little early and you could feel the innings stretch thin from there. Atlanta's 37-18 now, Boston sinking to 22-31, and Fenway filed out quiet.
