Atlanta BravesvsCincinnati Reds
ATL 8/CIN 3
Things to say
Braves beat the Reds 8-3 in Cincinnati.
01
opener
Braves rolled into Great American and put up eight on the Reds. Atlanta's offense just keeps humming — they're 39-19 now. Cincy couldn't keep up.
02
key player
The heart of the Braves order did the damage early. When they get into their stuff in a bandbox like GABP, it's a wrap.
03
hot take
Cincy's manager went to the pen way too early and it cost them. You can't keep yanking guys when your bullpen's gassed.
04
deep cut
Reds are 29-27 now — barely above .500 at home in a park where balls leave the yard every other inning. That's a problem.
05
exit
Anyway, Braves look scary heading into June. Curious what they do at the deadline.
The recap
Braves rolled into Great American and put up eight on the Reds, cruising to an 8-3 win that wasn't really in doubt after the middle innings. Atlanta's bats did the damage early and often, and once they got into Cincinnati's starter the bullpen couldn't stop the bleeding.
The Reds hung a three-spot but never threatened to climb back in, and you have to wonder if the manager went to the pen too early trying to stem it. Atlanta's now 39-19 and looking every bit the class of the division, while Cincy drops to a game over .500.
