Atlanta BravesvsNew York Yankees
ATL 2/NYY 3
Things to say
The Yankees walked off the Braves 3-2 in 10 innings at Yankee Stadium.
01
opener
Yankees took it 3-2, and it needed extras. Braves are the better team on paper but couldn't cash in late. Classic one-run grind at the Stadium.
02
key player
The Yankee bats were quiet all night, but their guy at the top of the order kept working counts and getting on base. That's what set up the winning run.
03
hot take
Honestly Atlanta beats itself here. Best record in the league and they leave the go-ahead run stranded twice. Bats went cold in the heart of the order.
04
deep cut
Braves went to the pen a little early and it bit them. Their starter still had gas, and the bullpen couldn't hold a one-run game into the tenth.
05
exit
Anyway, it's a series — curious if Atlanta answers back tomorrow or lets New York steal momentum.
The recap
Yankees walked it off 3-2 in the tenth, and this one had that late-summer grind written all over it. Atlanta jumped out early and both starters traded zeros deep into the night, so the game came down to who blinked first out of the pen.
The Braves' bullpen finally cracked in extras, and the Bombers pushed across the winning run to steal one at home. A gut-punch for Atlanta, who still owns the better record but let this getaway-day nightcap slip away.
