The Cubs turned Wrigley into a batting cage and hung 17 on the first-place Brewers, a 17-3 laugher that never felt close after the middle innings. Milwaukee's got the better record at 85-53, but on this getaway day the heart of the order left the yard and buried them early.
Once it got out of hand, the Brewers manager had to burn low-leverage arms just to soak up outs. Chicago pushes to 78-60 and gets to feel real good about themselves for a night.
