Milwaukee BrewersvsSan Diego Padres
MIL 2/SD 11
Things to say
The Padres routed the Brewers 11-2 at Petco Park.
01
opener
Padres just teed off on Milwaukee, 11-2. It was over by the middle innings. San Diego's bats got into everything the Brewers threw up there.
02
key player
The heart of that Padres order carried it. Somebody in the three-hole basically had a four-hit night and left the yard, put the whole thing away early.
03
hot take
Don't let the record fool you. Milwaukee's 74-46 but that pitching staff is thinner than people think, and nights like this expose it.
04
deep cut
The tell was the Brewers' bullpen. Manager went to the pen too early, and once that starter was out it was a track meet.
05
exit
Anyway, gonna be a fun series if San Diego keeps swinging like that. Curious who they hand the ball to next game.
The recap
Padres took the Brewers behind the woodshed at Petco, 11-2, and it wasn't as close as even that looks. San Diego jumped on Milwaukee early and just kept piling on, turning a getaway day into a laugher by the middle innings.
It's the kind of night where the Brewers' skipper is basically punting by the sixth, saving his good arms and letting the position players mop up. Nice reminder that the best record in baseball still gets left in the yard sometimes.
