St. Louis CardinalsvsLos Angeles Dodgers
STL 13/LAD 8
Things to say
The Cardinals beat the Dodgers 13-8 at Dodger Stadium.
01
opener
Cards went into Dodger Stadium and put up 13. Eight-run night for LA and they still lost by five. That tells you everything about the pitching.
02
key player
The whole heart of the order was locked in for St. Louis. When they're stacking crooked numbers like that, nobody in the lineup was taking a night off.
03
hot take
Roberts left his starter out there way too long. You give up that kind of damage, the manager went to the pen an inning late.
04
deep cut
Cards are under .500 at 69-70 and just torched an 82-win team on the road. That's the kind of spoiler game that quietly wrecks somebody's seeding.
05
exit
Dodgers better fix the bullpen before October, but I'll take the Cards stealing one. Curious who they throw tomorrow.
The recap
The Cardinals stormed into Dodger Stadium and lit up the scoreboard for 13, knocking off the NL West's best 13-8 in a game that was never as close as a five-run margin sounds. St.
Louis got into the Dodgers' pitching early and just kept swinging, forcing the manager to burn through the pen way ahead of schedule. Los Angeles kept clawing back with a couple of crooked innings of their own, but every time they made it interesting the Cards answered right back.
A 69-70 club walking into Chavez Ravine and dropping 13 on an 82-win team is exactly the kind of getaway-day chaos nobody saw coming.
