St. Louis CardinalsvsPhiladelphia Phillies
STL 3/PHI 12
Things to say
The Phillies hammered the Cardinals 12-3 at home in Philadelphia.
01
opener
Yeah, that one got ugly early. Phillies put up a crooked number and never looked back. 12-3, it was over by the middle innings.
02
key player
The heart of the order just teed off all night. When they string hits together like that, nobody in that lineup is an easy out.
03
hot take
Cardinals starter didn't have it, and they left him out there way too long. That's a getaway-day loss you just flush.
04
deep cut
What killed St. Louis was the free passes. You walk guys in front of that Phillies lineup and it snowballs fast.
05
exit
Phillies are rolling at 72-58. Curious to see if they carry it into the next one, tough to keep that bat rack hot.
The recap
The Phillies flat-out buried the Cardinals in this one, hanging a 12-3 laugher on them at Citizens Bank Park. Philly's bats got into it early and never let up, turning a getaway-day afternoon into a batting-practice session while St.
Louis had no answers. The Cards' staff couldn't find the strike zone or miss a bat, and once Philadelphia broke it open, the whole lineup piled on.
St. Louis limps home under .500 while the Phillies keep rolling toward October.
