Charlotte FCvsAtlanta United FC
CLT 2/ATL 0
Things to say
Charlotte FC beat Atlanta United 2-0 on the road at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
01
opener
Charlotte went into Atlanta and walked out with a clean sheet, 2-0. Atlanta just could not finish anything. Toklomati and company took their chances and that was the game.
02
key player
Idan Toklomati was the difference maker, five shots and he found the net. Guy's been Charlotte's engine all year.
03
hot take
Atlanta at 6-3-13 is a mess. That roster should not be losing at home to a division rival.
04
deep cut
Henry Kessler quietly ran the back line with 18 defensive interventions. That clean sheet doesn't happen without him.
05
exit
Charlotte's climbing the table now. Curious to see if they can keep it going next weekend.
The recap
Charlotte went into Atlanta and walked out with a clean 2-0 win, and it wasn't a fluke. Idan Toklomati led the line with five shots and kept the pressure on all night, while keeper Kristijan Kahlina made three saves to lock down the clean sheet on the other end.
Atlanta pushed and got their looks, but couldn't find the net against a Charlotte back line that swallowed everything up. That road result bumps Charlotte to 10-5-7 while Atlanta sinks deeper into a rough season at 6-3-13.
