Coventry CityvsManchester City
COV 0/MNC 1
Things to say
Manchester City beat Coventry City 1-0 at the Etihad to stay perfect at 3-0-0.
01
opener
City ground out a 1-nil win over Coventry. Not pretty, but they're 3-0-0 now. Coventry actually made them work for it.
02
key player
Elliot Anderson ran the whole thing from midfield, 143 accurate passes. Dude basically had the ball on a string all afternoon.
03
hot take
Haaland only got off four shots and didn't find the net. When your striker's quiet and you still win, that's the sign of a real team.
04
deep cut
Coventry's Bobby Thomas had five shots AND 15 defensive interventions. Their center back was doing everything, which tells you how thin they were.
05
exit
Clean sheet, three straight wins to start. Let's see if they keep it rolling next weekend.
The recap
Manchester City ground out a 1-0 win over Coventry City at the Etihad, staying perfect at 3-0 to start the season. It was a tight one, decided by a single goal while Coventry kept it close and made City work for every inch.
Gianluigi Donnarumma locked down the clean sheet with three saves, and Coventry's Carl Rushworth kept them in it right up until the end. Not a blowout by any means, but City took care of business and moved on with the points.
