Mariners walked it off in the tenth to steal one from the Cubs, 6-5, in a game Chicago probably felt they should've closed out in nine. Seattle kept clawing back every time the Cubs looked ready to pull away, and the bullpen finally slammed the door long enough for the offense to finish the job.
This was a bad look for a first-place Chicago club, blowing a chance to bury a sub-.500 team that just refused to go quietly. Free baseball, and the home crowd got the ending they wanted.
