Arizona DiamondbacksvsAtlanta Braves
ARI 2/ATL 0
Things to say
The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Atlanta Braves 2-0 at Truist Park.
01
opener
Snakes took it 2-0 in Atlanta. Total pitcher's duel, nobody could get anything going. Braves bats just went quiet.
02
key player
Arizona's starter got into his stuff early and never let the heart of the order breathe. Whoever it was carved 'em up.
03
hot take
A shutout in Truist? Atlanta's supposed to mash at home. That lineup's been snoozing.
04
deep cut
Two runs was all it took. Somebody up 65-58 hanging a zero on a 73-win club is a bigger deal than the score looks.
05
exit
Anyway, Braves get 'em back tomorrow. We'll see if the bats wake up.
The recap
Arizona walked into Truist Park and snatched a 2-0 getaway-day win behind a starter who clearly got into his stuff early, keeping Atlanta's heart of the order off balance all night. Nobody left the yard, nobody needed to — the D-backs scratched across a couple and let the arms do the rest.
The bullpen slammed the door late and hung a zero on a Braves lineup that just never got anything going. Two runs was plenty when the pitching's carrying you like that.
