Los Angeles DodgersvsChicago Cubs
LAD 6/CHC 7
Things to say
The Cubs edged the Dodgers 7-6 at Wrigley in a one-run game.
01
opener
Cubs took it 7-6, and man, it came down to the wire. Wrigley was rocking. Every time LA clawed back, Chicago had an answer.
02
key player
Somebody in the heart of that Cubs order left the yard when it mattered — that's the swing that flips a one-run game.
03
hot take
Honestly the Dodgers gave that one away. You don't lose by one to a team you're chasing in the standings and feel good about it.
04
deep cut
LA's still got the better record, 69 and 46, but Chicago's quietly at 66-49 and playing like it. That gap's closing.
05
exit
Anyway, Dodgers are still the class of the league — I wanna see if the Cubs can actually hang the rest of the series.
The recap
Cubs edged the Dodgers 7-6 at Wrigley in the kind of back-and-forth slugfest that keeps you glued to the bar TV. LA had the better record coming in, but Chicago's bats kept answering every time the Dodgers pushed ahead, and the one-run margin tells you nobody let up.
The bullpen had to slam the door in a tight one, and they got the final outs to hold serve at home. Getaway-day win for the Cubs, and they'll take a rugged one-run scrap over the class of the National League any day.
