Philadelphia EaglesvsNew England Patriots
PHI 21/NE 24
The Patriots beat the Eagles 24-21 at Gillette Stadium.
Classic August back-and-forth that came down to the last minute — the Eagles led 21-17 late before Behren Morton, New England's third arm of the night, hit Nick DeGennaro for a 37-yard strike with 57 seconds left to steal it 24-21. Tommy DeVito set the tone earlier with a 69-yard bomb to Kyle Williams, then handed the job off, which is exactly how these preseason nights go.
Tanner McKee actually looked the sharpest of anyone, throwing two touchdowns and moving Philly up and down the field, but the Eagles' defense couldn't get the one stop they needed at the end. Nobody's stat line here means much in a month, but a walk-off touchdown drive from your No. 3 quarterback is the kind of thing that keeps roster hopefuls employed.
