Raúl Jiménez was the tip of the spear up top, peppering the goal with four shots and dragging the hosts forward, while César Montes and the back line snuffed out everything Ecuador threw at them for a clean sheet.
Ecuador knocked it around nicely — Pedro Vite saw plenty of the ball — but they barely troubled the keeper, mustering next to nothing in front of goal. Comfortable, professional, job done for El Tri.
