Florida Atlantic OwlsvsFlorida Gators
FAU 21/FLA 66
Things to say
Florida rolled Florida Atlantic 66-21 at The Swamp to open the season.
01
opener
Yeah, this one was over by halftime. Florida hung 66 on FAU and it never felt that close. The Owls just couldn't get off the field.
02
key player
Jadan Baugh was a problem all day — 160 and three scores on the ground. They didn't even need to throw it much.
03
hot take
Aaron Philo looked the part, 3 TDs, but that pick tells me they've still got a ceiling to figure out against a real defense.
04
deep cut
Veltkamp threw it 52 times for FAU and only got 276 out of it — a ton of that was garbage time chasing points.
05
exit
Anyway, tune-up game. The real test is when the SEC schedule actually shows up.
The recap
Florida turned this into a track meet and left FAU in the dust, 66-21. Jadan Baugh was the engine, gashing the Owls for 160 yards and three rushing touchdowns while Aaron Philo carved them up for 275 and three more through the air.
FAU's Caden Veltkamp threw for 276 but tossed two picks and never threatened, with most of his yardage coming after the Gators were already coasting. This was smashmouth from the jump, and the only drama was how high the final number would climb.
