San Francisco GiantsvsMilwaukee Brewers
SF 1/MIL 0
Things to say
Giants edged the Brewers 1-0 in Milwaukee.
01
Giants took down the Brewers 1-0 last night. One of those games where every pitch felt like it mattered. SF squeaks one out on the road against a first-place club.
02
key player
Whoever the Giants ran out there was dealing — Brewers got blanked at home, that doesn't happen much against the heart of that order.
03
hot take
Milwaukee's 37-22 and still got shut out by a 24-win team. That offense goes quiet against lefties and it's gonna bite them in October.
04
deep cut
Getaway day at American Family Field, only on MLB.TV, nobody saw it — but the Brewers bullpen kept it a one-run game and still took the loss. Wasted effort.
05
exit
Anyway, Brewers are still cruising in the Central. I'll be curious if they bounce back tonight.
The recap
Giants snuck out of Milwaukee with a 1-0 nailbiter, and honestly the Brewers have to be kicking themselves — they're 37-22 and got blanked at home by a club sitting fifteen games under. Pitching carried the whole night, both staffs locked in, but San Francisco scratched across the only run that mattered and made it stand up.
Brewers bats just never got into anybody's stuff, couldn't string anything together against a lineup that's been scuffling all year. Quiet getaway-day kind of win for the Giants, but a run's a run and the standings don't ask how.
