San Francisco GiantsvsCleveland Guardians
SF 1/CLE 8
Things to say
Cleveland beat San Francisco 8-1 at Progressive Field.
01
opener
Guardians handled the Giants 8-1. Never really close after the middle innings. Cleveland just kept the line moving.
02
key player
Whoever's anchoring that Cleveland lineup earned his check tonight. Barreled everything and drove in a chunk of those eight.
03
hot take
Giants at 51-74 are just playing out the string. This wasn't a fluke, they've got no answers.
04
deep cut
Cleveland's starter cruised into the late innings, so the bullpen barely got used on a getaway day. That matters over a long homestand.
05
exit
Anyway, San Fran's basically cooked. I'll see if they can steal one before that series wraps.
The recap
Cleveland took San Francisco to the woodshed at Progressive Field, 8-1, and it was never really close. The Guardians got their bats going early and often, stacking up eight runs while their arm on the bump kept the Giants stuck on a single tally all afternoon.
San Francisco couldn't string anything together against the heart of that Cleveland staff, and by the late innings it was garbage time. A getaway-day beatdown that sends the Giants back home licking their wounds at 51-74.
