Things to say

The Pirates edged the Giants 13-12 at PNC Park to close out the series.

01
opener
Man, 13-12, that was a slugfest. Both bullpens got lit up. You blink and it's a one-run game in the ninth.
02
key player
The heart of Pittsburgh's order carried them. Somebody in that lineup left the yard and drove in a bunch. That's your game right there.
03
hot take
Neither starter had it. Nobody went deep, and honestly both managers went to the pen way too early and it nearly cost them.
04
deep cut
Twenty-five runs combined at PNC Park, of all places. That's usually a pitcher's yard. Wind must've been blowing straight out.
05
exit
Giants are cooked at 57-82 anyway. I'm just watching to see if Pittsburgh can get back to .500. We'll see.
The recap

Total slugfest at PNC Park, the kind of getaway-day game where nobody's bullpen wanted any part of it. The Pirates and Giants traded haymakers all afternoon before Pittsburgh scratched across the last run they needed to steal it 13-12.

Twenty-five runs on the board means somebody's ERA got torched — both starters got knocked around early and the pens just kept pouring gas on it. San Francisco left the yard enough to win most nights, but the Bucs answered every time and walked off with the one-run thriller.
