Cleveland GuardiansvsLos Angeles Angels
CLE 8/LAA 6
Things to say
Cleveland beat the Angels 8-6 in ten innings at Angel Stadium.
01
opener
Guardians took it 8-6 but they made you sweat. Angels clawed back and pushed it to extras. Cleveland finally broke it open in the tenth.
02
key player
The heart of Cleveland's order carried them — a couple of guys left the yard and one drove in the go-ahead run in the tenth. That's the whole ballgame right there.
03
hot take
Angels manager went to the pen way too early. You leave your starter in there another inning and this game doesn't go ten.
04
deep cut
This is a 52-81 Angels team hanging with a club that's over .500. Getaway day, ghost runner on second in the tenth, and Cleveland just executed the small ball better.
05
exit
Guardians are back over .500 and rolling — I'll be watching to see if they keep it going in the next series.
The recap
Cleveland walked into Angel Stadium and left with a wild one, taking the Halos 8-6 in extra innings. This thing was knotted up through nine before the Guardians finally busted it open in the tenth, pushing across a couple against a gassed Angels pen that the manager probably leaned on a batter too long.
LA hung around all night, but they just couldn't get the big hit when it mattered and let this getaway spot slip away. Cleveland keeps clawing back toward .500 while the Angels drop to a rough 52-81.
