Houston Dynamo FCvsCharlotte FC
HOU 0/CLT 0
Things to say
Houston Dynamo and Charlotte FC played to a scoreless nil-nil draw at Bank of America Stadium.
01
opener
Zero-zero, and honestly it earned every bit of that scoreline. Two teams that did not want to lose more than they wanted to win. Both keepers walked away with a clean sheet.
02
key player
Kahlina in the Charlotte net was the story. Five saves, kept them level all night. Steal him a goal and he's the man of the match easy.
03
hot take
Houston had eight shots from Bogusz alone and still couldn't find the net. You put up numbers like that and go home with a point, that's on the finishing.
04
deep cut
Watch Herrera for Houston, quietly ran the whole thing with 86 accurate passes. Nobody notices the guy who never gives it away.
05
exit
A point each in a tight playoff race, I'll take it either way. Let's see if either of them can actually score next week.
The recap
This one ended nil-nil, and both keepers earned their clean sheets. Houston pushed the run of play, with Mateusz Bogusz peppering the goal eight times, but Charlotte keeper Kristijan Kahlina turned away five shots to keep it level.
The turning point was really just goalkeeping on both ends canceling each other out, since neither side could find the net all ninety-plus minutes. Nobody carried this one to a win, but if you're picking a hero, it's the two guys in gloves who kept the scoreboard empty.
