Houston Dynamo FCvsSt. Louis CITY SC
HOU 1/STL 2
Things to say
St. Louis CITY SC beat Houston Dynamo FC 2-1 at home.
01
opener
St. Louis got it done at home, 2-1 over Houston. Backline held up when it mattered. Good three points for CITY.
02
key player
Bürki was the difference in goal. Three saves, kept them in it, earned that win.
03
hot take
Houston's the better team on paper and still lost. That's a soft result for a side sitting that high in the table.
04
deep cut
Bogusz put up five shots for Houston and couldn't find the net. All that pressure, nothing to show for it.
05
exit
Anyway, Houston's got the record to bounce back. Curious how they respond next week.
The recap
St. Louis CITY SC pulled off the upset at Energizer Park, knocking off a Houston side that came in with the far better record and walking away 2-1.
Roman Bürki kept the door mostly shut in goal with three saves, and Timo Baumgartl was everywhere at the back with 10 defensive interventions to hold off Houston's press. Mateusz Bogusz kept firing for the Dynamo with a game-high five shots, but he couldn't find the equalizer when it mattered.
Big three points for St. Louis against a team that's been one of the West's best all season.
