Hull CityvsCoventry City
HUL 1/COV 0
Things to say
Hull City won 1-0 on the road at Coventry City.
01
opener
Coventry played at home and just couldn't find the net. Hull grabbed one and sat on it. Ugly game, but a win's a win for the visitors.
02
key player
Tzolakis in the Hull goal was the story. Three saves, clean sheet, kept his back line calm all afternoon.
03
hot take
Coventry should've had this. You can't put up more shots at home and walk away with nothing.
04
deep cut
John Egan quietly had 14 defensive interventions for Hull. Nobody's talking about it, but that's how you protect a one-goal lead.
05
exit
Hull's a perfect 2-0 to start now. Curious to see if they keep grinding out results like this next week.
The recap
Hull City walked into Coventry and stole all three points with a 1-0 win, and the visitors keep rolling at a perfect 2-0-0 to start the year. Coventry did most of the pushing but couldn't find the net, with Taiwo Awoniyi peppering the goal four times and coming up empty each time.
Hull keeper Konstantinos Tzolakis was the difference, turning away three shots to lock down the clean sheet. Coventry has now dropped two straight and is still hunting for its first goal of the season.
