Kent State Golden FlashesvsSouth Carolina Gamecocks
KENT 0/SC 57
Things to say
South Carolina blanked Kent State 57-0 at Williams-Brice Stadium.
01
opener
Yeah, that one was over by halftime. South Carolina hung 57 on Kent State and pitched a shutout. Just a total mismatch from the jump.
02
key player
Sellers was surgical — 19 of 23 for 270 and three touchdowns. Dude didn't even need the fourth quarter.
03
hot take
Honestly the score flatters Kent State a little. They couldn't move the ball at all, 63 passing yards the whole day.
04
deep cut
Loved the Jabree Coleman run — 60 yards on the ground, house call. Backup guy just gashing them at the line of scrimmage.
05
exit
Cupcake opener, though. We'll actually learn something once SEC play starts.
The recap
South Carolina ran Kent State off the field 57-0, and it was never a contest. LaNorris Sellers was surgical, going 19-of-23 for 270 and three scores, while Jabree Coleman only needed four carries to rack up 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 60-yard sprint.
The Gamecocks defense pitched a shutout and Kent State couldn't move the ball all day, managing just 63 passing yards and never sniffing the red zone. This one was over by halftime, with the backups piling on and everybody home happy.
