Detroit LionsvsIndianapolis Colts
DET 25/IND 16
Things to say
Detroit beat Indianapolis 25-16 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
01
opener
Lions had it the whole way. Dobbs was efficient, ran the offense clean, and the Colts just couldn't move the ball. Never really felt close.
02
key player
Dobbs was the story. 15 of 19, 128 and two scores. He didn't force a thing.
03
hot take
Anthony Richardson at 7 of 10 for 80 yards? That's not a passing game, that's a punt-fest. Indy's got a real quarterback problem.
04
deep cut
Jacob Saylors quietly grinds out a hundred on the ground, seventeen carries. That's how you kill a clock and keep their defense honest.
05
exit
Anyway, preseason tune-up, but Detroit looks ready. Curious what they do when the games count.
The recap
Detroit took care of business in Indy, 25-16, in a game the Colts never really threatened. Joshua Dobbs was the story, carving up the secondary at 15-of-19 for 128 and a pair of touchdown throws, while Jacob Saylors leaned on them for a clean 100 yards on the ground.
Indy just couldn't move the ball, leaning on Blake Grupe field goals early before Trayveon Williams punched in two short scores to put it away. Spencer Shrader's 60-yard boot was a fun footnote, but this one was smashmouth Lions from the jump.
