Seattle MarinersvsBoston Red Sox
SEA 8/BOS 3
Things to say
The Mariners beat the Red Sox 8-3 at Fenway Park.
01
opener
Seattle went into Fenway and just handled it, 8-3. They jumped on Boston early and never really let them back in. Road win in that ballpark is no joke.
02
key player
The heart of the Seattle order did all the damage. They put up eight and half of it came from the middle guys just squaring stuff up all night.
03
hot take
Boston's got a winning record but that pitching's held together with tape. You leave the yard three times in Seattle's lineup and it's over.
04
deep cut
Watch when Boston's manager went to the pen. Pulled his starter and the game flipped an inning later. Went to the bullpen way too early.
05
exit
Anyway, Mariners are hanging around. Curious if they can keep it going the rest of this road trip.
The recap
Seattle went into Fenway and made it look easy, hanging 8 on the Sox to grab this one 8-3. The bats got into their stuff early and kept the pressure on all afternoon, never letting Boston climb back into it.
Boston's pen didn't have any answers, and a five-run cushion on a getaway day is the kind of comfy the M's don't get often on the road. Seattle leaves town feeling good; Boston's still clinging to that .535 record but this one stung.
