Miami MarlinsvsWashington Nationals
MIA 3/WSH 6
Things to say
Washington beat Miami 6-3 at Nationals Park on Sunday.
01
opener
Nats took it 6-3. Solid all-around win at home, nothing flukey about it. They just controlled the game.
02
key player
Washington's bat in the heart of the order carried it — put up a couple of runs and never let Miami settle in.
03
hot take
Marlins are a .500 club stuck in neutral. They needed a getaway-day W and let it slip.
04
deep cut
The Nats pen held the lead late instead of the manager going to it too early. That's the quiet reason they won.
05
exit
Anyway, let's see if Washington can build on it — next series is the real test.
The recap
The Nats took care of business at home, knocking off the Marlins 6-3 to snap Miami back down to .500. Washington's bats did the damage early and the bullpen slammed the door late, never really letting the Fish sniff a comeback.
It was a workmanlike win, but the story is Miami's momentum stalling out at the worst time in a tight playoff push. Getaway-day baseball, and the home team walked away with the series feeling good.
