Miami MarlinsvsColorado Rockies
MIA 10/COL 7
Things to say
The Marlins beat the Rockies 10-7 at Coors Field.
01
opener
Marlins took it 10-7 up at Coors. Classic Coors Field slugfest, ball was flying all night. Miami just kept tacking on.
02
key player
Miami's heart of the order did the damage. A couple guys left the yard and you could feel the air go out of Colorado.
03
hot take
Rockies pitching at altitude is just unfair to those arms. You can't judge a starter by his line when he's throwing a mile high.
04
deep cut
Watch the seventh, that's where it tilted. Colorado's manager went to the pen too early and Miami made him pay.
05
exit
Anyway, Marlins are scrappy this year. Curious if they keep it rolling in the next one.
The recap
Marlins went into Coors and outslugged the Rockies 10-7, which is exactly the kind of track-meet you expect at altitude where the ball just won't stop carrying. Miami's bats kept the line moving all night and Colorado's pen couldn't slam the door once things got loose.
The Rockies put up seven of their own, but in a place where leads never feel safe, ten was always going to be the number that held. Miami keeps rolling at 45-40 while the Rockies sink deeper at 33-52.
