Miami MarlinsvsColorado Rockies
MIA 14/COL 3
Things to say
The Marlins hammered the Rockies 14-3 at Coors Field.
01
opener
Marlins put up a fourteen-spot at Coors. It got out of hand early and never really got close. Rockies just couldn't find any arms to slow it down.
02
key player
The whole heart of the Marlins order was locked in. They kept the line moving all night and left the yard more than once. Coors gives you no place to hide.
03
hot take
Fourteen runs looks great, but half of that is just Coors being Coors. Score that on the road and I'm impressed.
04
deep cut
Rockies manager went to the pen way too early and it snowballed. Once your bullpen's exposed in the first few innings at altitude, it's over.
05
exit
Anyway, Miami's rolling at 46-40 now. Curious to see if they carry this into the next series.
The recap
Miami went into Coors and turned it into batting practice, hanging 14 on the Rockies for a laugher that was over early. Colorado's staff got knocked around from the jump, and once the Marlins' heart of the order got rolling they just kept piling on and leaving the yard.
The bullpen didn't offer much relief either, and by the late innings this was garbage time in a baseball uniform. At 46-40 the Fish are playing real ball, while Colorado drops to 33-53 and another day at altitude to forget.
