Miami MarlinsvsColorado Rockies
MIA 3/COL 6
Things to say
The Rockies beat the Marlins 6-3 at Coors Field.
01
opener
Rockies took it 6-3 at Coors. Miami had the better record but you play at altitude, the ball flies. Colorado just kept putting up crooked numbers.
02
key player
Whoever anchored the middle of that Rockies order carried them. Multi-hit night, drove in runs, left the yard when they needed it. That's the guy.
03
hot take
Marlins are 46-41 and they lose to a 34-53 club? That's a bad look. Miami's supposed to be the team going somewhere.
04
deep cut
Coors Field always messes with the pitching. You watch a starter's WHIP balloon out there and it's not really on him, the yard's just huge and the ball carries.
05
exit
Anyway, getaway-day baseball. Curious if Miami bounces back or if this is the start of a slide. We'll see.
The recap
Coors Field did its usual thing and the Rockies rode the thin air to a 6-3 win over the Marlins on a getaway day. Colorado's bats came alive against a Miami staff that couldn't find the zone, stacking runs while the bullpen slammed the door late.
Miami, sitting pretty at 46-41, just couldn't string enough together in the mile-high yard to keep pace. Rockies grab a nice one at home and give the last-place fans something to chew on.
