Miami MarlinsvsKansas City Royals
MIA 6/KC 3
Things to say
The Miami Marlins beat the Kansas City Royals 6-3 at Kauffman Stadium.
01
opener
Marlins took it 6-3 in KC. Miami just kept putting up crooked numbers and the Royals never really answered. Fun one to watch on a getaway day.
02
key player
Miami's heart of the order did the damage — a couple of them left the yard and that was the ballgame.
03
hot take
The Royals bullpen coughed this one up. KC's manager went to the pen too early and it bit him.
04
deep cut
Nobody's talking about it, but the Marlins are 70-69 now — above .500 and quietly hanging around the wild card race.
05
exit
Royals are cooked at 62-77, so it's spoiler season for them. Curious if Miami can keep this run going next series.
The recap
Miami went into Kauffman and took care of business, knocking off the Royals 6-3 to climb back over .500 at 70-69. The Marlins put up six on a Kansas City club that just can't buy a break, dropping to 62-77 and playing out the string.
Six-to-three tells you the bats did enough and the bullpen didn't blow it late, which has been the whole story for this scrappy Miami group. Getaway day, road win, nothing fancy — just the kind of game a team hanging around the wild card race needs to bank.
