Miami MarlinsvsKansas City Royals
MIA 3/KC 7
Things to say
The Royals beat the Marlins 7-3 at Kauffman Stadium.
01
opener
Royals took it 7-3 at home. Miami never really got the offense going. Kind of a getaway-day snoozer that KC just controlled.
02
key player
The heart of the KC order did the damage — seven runs and it wasn't as close as the score. Somebody over there squared it up all night.
03
hot take
Marlins are over .500 and they still can't beat a team fifteen games under. That tells you everything about their road trip.
04
deep cut
Watch the bullpen line — KC's pen slammed the door late, and that's been the quiet story for them lately even in a lost season.
05
exit
Anyway, low stakes for KC. The real question is whether Miami hangs around the wild card — I'll be watching their next series.
The recap
Kansas City took care of business at home, riding a 7-3 win over Miami to shake off some of that sub-.500 funk. The Royals bats did the heavy lifting, putting up a crooked number that never let the Marlins get their nose back in it.
Miami's three runs just weren't enough to hang, and once KC got the cushion, the bullpen closed the door clean. Getaway-day baseball, and the home crowd went home happy.
