Phoenix MercuryvsWashington Mystics
PHX 75/WSH 95
Things to say
The Washington Mystics beat the Phoenix Mercury 95-75 at home.
01
opener
Mystics ran Phoenix out of the building, 95-75. Never really close. Washington's up to 19-12 and looking like they belong.
02
key player
Shakira Austin was a problem all night — 19 and 11, just eating them up in the paint. Double-double clinic.
03
hot take
Phoenix is 12-22 for a reason. When Copper's your leading scorer with 15, you didn't get buckets from anybody.
04
deep cut
Alyssa Thomas still stuffed the sheet for Phoenix — 10 boards and 6 dimes — but a triple-double don't mean much when you take the L by 20.
05
exit
Anyway, Washington's rolling. Curious if they can keep it going down the stretch — playoff seeding's about to get real.
The recap
Washington ran Phoenix out of the gym at home, 95-75, and it was never really close. Shakira Austin ate them up in the paint for a 19-and-11 double-double while Sonia Citron dished out six dimes and kept the offense humming.
Phoenix couldn't buy a bucket outside of Kahleah Copper's 15, and even Alyssa Thomas grinding out a 10-board, six-assist night couldn't dent that 20-point hole. The Mystics keep climbing at 19-12 while Phoenix just took another ugly L to drop to 12-22.
