Phoenix MercuryvsToronto Tempo

PHX 89/TOR 80

CBS/Paramount+Scotiabank Arena
Things to say

Phoenix beat Toronto 89-80 on the road at Scotiabank Arena.

01
opener
Mercury went into Toronto and took care of business, 89-80. Tempo hung around but never really got over the hump. Phoenix just had the better closer.
02
key player
Kahleah Copper went off for 27 and basically carried Phoenix by herself. She was getting buckets in the paint all night.
03
hot take
Honestly the Tempo aren't bad, they just don't have anybody who can take over when it gets tight. Sabally with 14 to lead them? That's the whole problem.
04
deep cut
Julie Allemand quietly dropped a 10-assist dime show, and Bonner grabbed 11 boards. The role guys did their job, the scoring just wasn't there.
05
exit
Both teams are under .500, so nothing's settled. Curious to see if Toronto can flip it next time out.
The recap

Phoenix went into Toronto and walked out with an 89-80 win, and it was the Kahleah Copper show all night. She dropped 27 and just ate the Tempo up, getting buckets whenever Phoenix needed a stop on the scoreboard.

Toronto never got a real go-to scorer going, with Nyara Sabally's 14 leading a balanced-but-quiet night, and Julie Allemand's 10 dimes couldn't paper over the lack of punch. Tempo take the L and drop to 9-10, while the Mercury grab a road W they badly needed.
