New York MetsvsAtlanta Braves
NYM 3/ATL 6
Things to say
The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets 6-3 at Truist Park.
01
opener
Braves handled business at home, 6-3. Jumped on the Mets early and never really gave it back. Kind of a boring win for a team that's just cruising right now.
02
key player
Whole heart of the Atlanta order was grinding out at-bats and making New York's guy work. Once they got into his stuff, that was the ballgame.
03
hot take
Mets are cooked, man. 53-69 isn't a slump, that's just who they are. These two aren't in the same tier anymore.
04
deep cut
Check the standings — Braves at 73 wins, Mets 16 under. Same division, but it's not even the same sport at this point.
05
exit
Anyway, they run it back tomorrow. Mets better get a starter to go deep or that bullpen's getting torched again.
The recap
Atlanta took care of business at home, knocking off the Mets 6-3 to keep rolling at 73-48. The Braves' bats did the heavy lifting, stringing together enough noise against New York's staff to build a lead they never really gave back, while the bullpen slammed the door late.
The Mets, sitting well under .500 at 53-69, just couldn't get the heart of the order going when it mattered. Getaway-day energy in Atlanta, and the home team sent everybody out happy.
