New York MetsvsChicago White Sox
NYM 4/CHW 6
Things to say
The White Sox beat the Mets 6-4 at Rate Field to take the series opener.
01
opener
White Sox took it 6-4 at home. Mets hung around but never really got the heart of the order going. Feels like a game the Mets should've had.
02
key player
The Sox bats did the damage early and made it stand up. When a rebuilding team scores six on a playoff hopeful, somebody in that lineup left the yard.
03
hot take
Honestly the Mets bullpen is why they're a .450 team. Talent's there, they just can't hold a lead.
04
deep cut
Chicago's at 67-61 now, quietly hanging around .500. Nobody's talking about the White Sox and that's exactly why they keep sneaking games like this.
05
exit
We'll see if the Mets bounce back tomorrow, they can't afford to drop this series at 58-71.
The recap
The White Sox took care of business at Rate Field, knocking off the Mets 6-4 to snap off a nice win on the South Side. New York hung around and cut it to two, but Chicago's bats did enough damage early and the bullpen slammed the door late.
Give credit to the home crowd — the Sox left the yard just enough times to make that lead stick. Mets drop another one and head home at 58-71, looking like a team just playing out the string.
