The Mets went into Chicago and put up a crooked number, hanging 10 on the White Sox for a comfortable 5-run cushion by the final out. This was the bats doing the heavy lifting all day, jumping on Chicago early and never letting the South Siders climb back into it.
New York needed this one badly sitting well under .500, and blowing the doors off a struggling White Sox club is exactly the kind of getaway-day laugher that gets a scuffling lineup right. Chicago's pen didn't do them any favors, but honestly, when you spot the other guys double digits, the game's over long before that.
